Palazzo Pasquale
Palazzo Pasquale is a charming piece of work, built during the second half of the 15th century, situated in Corso Martiri della Libertà, a perfect specimen of the minor architecture of the town, echoing the sumptuousness and grace of the Venetian models. The façade of the palazzo is in stonework whilst the arches are in exposed brickwork. These are lancet arches, typical of the Medieval era. Only the arches are of exposed brickwork, since the rest of the façade is plastered. Beyond the foyer, there were once two side “calli”, leading directly onto the fields at the back. Five holes open in correspondence with the “piano nobile”. On the central one there is a delightful balcony. Within the palazzo there is also a room with Venetian style flooring dating back to 1700. To conclude, a peculiarity: among all the palazzi of this type in Portogruaro, Palazzo Pasquale is the only one not to have the “usual” construction at the centre of the courtyard. In fact, this construction has been placed towards the end of the Palazzo’s courtyard and was used for years as a piggery, leaning directly onto the walls(the ramparts) of the town.
